Elizabeth M. Marcello (she/her)

I am a Doctoral Lecturer at the Roosevelt House Public Policy Institute at Hunter College - CUNY, with an appointment in Hunter’s Department of Urban Policy and Planning. I am also a Policy Fellow at the New York State watchdog group Reinvent Albany. My research explores how special purpose governments influence urban public finance, democratic processes, and public accountability.

Prior to joining Hunter in a full-time capacity, I championed anti-corruption legislation and demanded greater transparency and accountability in state economic development spending at Reinvent Albany as a senior policy analyst and campaign manager.

I have a Ph.D. in urban planning from Columbia University’s Graduate School of Architecture, Planning and Preservation, a Master of International Affairs (urban policy) from Columbia University’s School of International and Public Affairs, and a Bachelor of Arts (environmental studies) from the University of California, Santa Cruz.
