Elizabeth M. Marcello (she/her)

I am a scholar-educator-advocate. My research explores how special purpose governments influence urban public finance, democratic processes, and public accountability. I have experience teaching at the graduate and undergraduate levels, and I’ve championed anti-corruption legislation and demanded greater transparency and accountability in economic development spending in New York State through non-profit work.

I am a Louisiana native and have a Ph.D. in urban planning from Columbia University, a Master’s degree from Columbia University’s School of International and Public Affairs, and a Bachelor’s degree from the University of California, Santa Cruz. Go Slugs!
